Coordinator
The student campus coordinator is responsible to the Director of Campus Recreation for the
administration, promotion and some financial considerations concerning the Brandon University Campus
Recreation Program.
- Administrative
- Will prepare the sports schedule;
- Will book the necessary facilities;
- Kinsmen Stadium - sign contract at City of Brandon
- school yards - sign contract at City of Brandon
- hockey arenas - confirm with letter and purchase order
- curling rink(s) - confirm with letter and purchase order
- Golf Scramble course - confirm with letter and purchase order
- Will keep the facility equipment personnel up to date on what is taking place in Campus
Recreation and what equipment will be required;
- Will meet with the physical education class responsible for practicums, ie. Organization
and Administration, etc.;
- Will meet with sport convenors on a regular basis;
- Will work with assistants;
- Will supervise sport activities on occasion;
- Will organize the sport survey;
- Will tabulate Campus Recreation activities;
- Will handle complaints concerning the program;
- Will collect and investigate accident reports;
- Will assemble the sports pamphlet for the students;
- Will direct in the preparation of reports for the Campus Recreation Director;
- Will prepare final year report;
- Other administrative duties as required.
- Financial
- Will find a sponsor for the following year's Campus Recreation T-shirts;
- Will collect bonds from sport convenors prior to the start of the activity;
- Will tabulate any payment to officials;
- Other fund-raising activities as required.
- Promotion, Publicity and Public Relations
- Will set up a booth for Special events such as Orientation Week/Fit Week;
- Will circulate the Campus Recreation pamphlet;
- by cashiers' office

- at registrar's office
- send to different university clubs;
- Will be responsible for the sports hot line;
- Will supervise advertising of sports and activities;
- Will have someone design a logo for Campus Recreation T-shirts as required;
- Will have T-shirts printed;
- Will take pictures of activities and/or sign out camera to convenors;
- Will have pictures developed and picked up;
- Will keep the Campus Recreation bulletin board(s) up to date;
- Will organize the Campus Recreation wind-up;
- Other duties as required.

Sport/Activity Convenors
The sport/activity convenor is responsible to the student Campus Recreation Coordinator for the
administration and promotion of the specific sport/activity.
- Administration
- Will run the Captain's Meeting following the list provided;
- Will be familiar with the rules of the sport;
- Will collect and check all entry forms;
- Will schedule all games;
- Will collect bonds from sport captains;
- Will arrange for officials for their particular sport/activity;
- Will secure prizes for participants in conjunction with the student Campus Recreation
Coordinator;
- Will ensure that equipment is reserved, set-up, taken down, and put away properly for
each game;
- Will post schedules and update standings/statistics regularly;
- Will supervise all related sport events;
- Will submit accident reports promptly, should they be required;
- Will prepare final report as per the sport report format;
- Will meet regularly with student Campus Recreation Coordinator;
- Other administrative duties as required.
- Promotion, Publicity and Public Relations
- Will make and post posters advertising dates for entry, Captains' Meeting, and duration of
event. All posters must be approved by the student Campus Recreation Coordinator or
Campus Recreation Director before posting;
- Will submit all pertinent information to The Quill for publication;
- Will remove all advertising materials when outdated;
- Will publicize results and award recipients following completion of event;
- Will publicize in the appropriate media and thank sponsors for support.

Sport Captains
Sport Captains are responsible to the Campus Recreation Convenor and their teams. Duties include:
- Administration
- Will submit the required information for each team member (name, student number) on
the official entry form on or before entry deadlines;
- Will attend the Captains' Meeting;
- Will pay the team's bond to the convenor (one week prior to the start date for activity);
- Will inform the team members of the specific rules and regulations of the Brandon
University Campus Recreation Program;
- Will inform the team members of the specific rules and regulations of the sport;
- Will notify the team members of scheduled games. It is the Captain's responsibility to
have the team ready to play when scheduled;
- Will notify the sport convenor if teams must postpone or default a game;
- Will check the standings for possible errors;
- Will assure that the team has a referee available if required;
- Will contact the sport convenor regarding play off eligibility and schedules;
- Will have team members complete activity evaluations and return all completed
evaluations to convenor.
- Administrative Captain's Meetings
- The convenor must hold a Captain's Meeting at the predetermined time;
- All Captains must be present;
- For discussion with Captains:
- eligibility
- game procedure
- scheduling details (any requests should be made in advance)
- conduct
- officiating
- Collect and explain bonds;
- Rules
- hand out activity rules
- go over the rules with the Captains - discuss any difficult areas now with everyone
present
- ensure Captains take the rules back to their teams;
- Posting of scores and standings:
- the convenor must post scores and standings;
- it is the Captain's responsibility to check the standings and report any problems to the
convenor
- All protests must be made in writing and handed in to the sport convenor within 24 hours
of the event.

Officials
- Administration
- Will be completely familiar with regulations that govern the Brandon University Campus
Recreation Program;
- For games in which you are scheduled to officiate, you will arrive at the game or site well
in advance and be prepared to officiate;
- If a commitment to officiate an assigned game cannot be met, a suitable replacement must
be found;
- Will start and end the game(s) on time;
- Will report any problems or incidents to the convenor immediately.
