Club Activities
  • Sports clubs at Brandon University offer the opportunity for students to participate in or learn a sport at a competitive level not provided for in the intramural or intercollegiate sports programs.

  • The sport club program is the responsibility of the campus recreation program personnel who offer guidance to the clubs.

  • Each club is formed, developed, governed and administered by the student membership of that particular club.

  • The keys to the success of this program and each club are student leadership, interest, involvement and participation.

    Sport Club Definition
  • A sport club is a recognized organization of students, staff, and/or faculty which exists to promote and develop interest in a particular sport or physical activity at a level not provided for in the intramural or intercollegiate sports programs.

  • A club may be recreational, instructional, or competitive, or may be involved in a combination of these elements.

  • Sport club membership is voluntary.

  • It is expected that participation in the clubs will make a significant contribution to the participants' university experience.

    Goals of the Sport Club Program

    The goals of the sport club program at Brandon University are:

    1. To provide an opportunity for physical activity on a regular, continuing and organized basis for interested university students, staff, and/or faculty, especially in activities not offered through the intramural or intercollegiate programs.

    2. To promote physical activity.

    3. To contribute to the development of student leadership skills.

    4. To provide opportunities for social interaction between individuals with similar interests.

    5. To provide capable instruction in an activity in order to help individuals develop the necessary skills for the activity.

    6. To provide opportunities for extramural competition.

    Standards of Conduct
    The basic concept underlying the University's standards of conduct is that students, by enrolling in the University, assume an obligation to conduct themselves and their organizations in a manner compatible with the University's function as an educational institution. Misuse of equipment and facilities, as well as inappropriate conduct and actions while participating in any sport club activity may result in disciplinary action.

    Administration of the Sport Club Program
    The sport club program and other programs such as intramurals and informal recreation and non-credit activity courses are administered by Campus Recreation. The Director of Campus Recreation is the administrative officer for the program. The Director may delegate particular responsibilities to other individuals.
